The Obliment

In this series of Guerilla performances Dani Chё and Galina Shevchenko temporarily hijacked monuments in public squares of Chicago, by projecting video content on the monument surface, and performing emotional songs that temporarily propped up experiences in the collective immigrant subconsciousness that are slowly submerging into oblivion.

 

“Tanks Were Rumbling on the Battlefield”

(Ballad about the Death of Tank Crewman)

Unabridged version of the iconic and tragic Soviet World War 2 song about the death of an unidentified tank crewman. The song lays out in meticulous details the everyday details and events leading to his death, the funeral, and the reaction of his surviving family members getting news of his death. Performed on May 8th, 2021at Chicago’s Logan Square.
