“This infant robot is a conscious AI entity, peacefully generating socialist realism song lyrics in Russian. It's cognitive functions are based on RNN deep learning model developed by Andrej Karpathy. This piece attempts to step away from the conventional dimensions of talking about AI, our obsession with functional benefits, dystopic visions and ethical paradoxes. Instead I wanted to celebrate humanity, warmth and care people continue to bring into their relationship with technology. 

As far as the text generating layer of the work it is connected to my lifelong exploration of Soviet aesthetics. In that sense, it's almost a self-portrait, as Eisenstein was trained exclusively based on Soviet propaganda songs and is fundamentally confined to this narrow subset of humanity's conscious output.”

This object was created for the Galina Shevchenko’s Cyborgs show at Chicago Art Department.
